Your agreement with Bridging the Gap China

On filling out and submitting our Application Form and our acceptance of your Application Form, you agree to the following terms and conditions.


In these terms and conditions the following words completed and submitted shall have the following meanings:

  • “Application Form” means the application form for the Course on the Site
  • “Course” means one of our courses detailed on the Site
  • “Course Fee” means the fee payable by you to participate in the Course detailed on the Site
  • “Course Start Date” means the commencement date of the Course as selected in the Application Form and confirmed by us, or any other date as agreed between us
  • “Deposit” means your deposit of £250 and which forms part of the Course Fee
  • “Force Majeure Event” means fire, lightning, explosion, storm, earthquake, tempest, hurricane, flood, landslide, outbreak of infectious disease, imposition of quarantine, government intervention, political unrest, loss, theft or damage to equipment, nuclear disaster, hijacking or any other event arising which is beyond our control.
  • “Site” means the website located at www.bridgingthegapchina.co.uk or any other website address that may replace it and any other website which we own
  • “we”/”our”/”us” means Bridging the Gap China LLP a limited liability partnership incorporated in England and Wales with registered number OC370824 and having its registered office at Parkways, Little Heath Lane, Potten End, Hertfordshire, HP4 2RX; and “you”/”your” means you as a person applying to participate on the Course.

Course Details

We endeavour to provide the Course as it is described on the Site but reserve the right to make any changes to the Course including, but not limited to, the facilities, services, tours and activities that are detailed as part of the Course.

We will endeavour to find appropriate teachers that meet or exceed our rigorous requirements and interview process. However, a teacher may be changed at our discretion for personal or professional reasons.

Payment and Cancellation

Payment Process

You are required to pay the Deposit once you receive confirmation from us that your Application Form has been accepted and in any event no later than 6 weeks before the Course Start Date in order to secure a place on the Course.  You shall pay the remainder of the Course Fee either by bank transfer or cheque, no later than 4 weeks prior to the Course Start Date.

Price and Surcharge

The Course Fees are accurate on the date they are published, however we reserve the right to increase the Course Fees up to one month prior to the Course Start Date due to changes in accommodation prices, entrance fees or transport costs. In the unlikely event that this occurs, we will notify you via email.

Cancellation by you

If you choose to cancel your booking at any point you must notify us in writing.  The date on which we receive your written notification will determine the refund applicable. If we receive notification of your desire to cancel:

  • more than 6 weeks prior to the Court Start Date, we will refund the full amount of any Course Fee already paid and the Deposit;
  • between 6 weeks and 4 weeks prior to the Course Start Date, we will refund 100% of the Course Fee but retain the Deposit;
  • between 4 weeks and 2 weeks prior to the Course Start Date, we will refund 75% of the Course Fee but retain the Deposit; or
  • less than 2 weeks prior to the Course Start Date, we will refund 50% of the Course Fee but retain the Deposit.

Once the Course has started we will not refund any part of the Course Fee.

Cancellation by us

We reserve the right to cancel your booking by providing you with written notice at the earliest possible date. If cancellation occurs prior to the Course Start Date and no suitable alternative course if offered, we will refund the Course Fee less the Deposit. We do not accept any liability for any incidental expenses or consequential loss you may suffer as a result of the cancellation for the Course, this includes but is not limited to the cost of visas, vaccinations, non-refundable flights or other transport fares, loss of earnings or loss of enjoyment.

Your Responsibilities

Age and Responsibility

By completing and submitting your Application Form you represent and warrant that you are of sufficient legal age to create binding legal obligations for any liability you may as a result of making your booking. You confirm that you are either 18 years old, or if under 18 years old you have the agreement of your parent or guardian to make your booking and participate on the Course.

Travel Insurance

It is compulsory for you to purchase valid travel insurance prior to arriving in the People’s Republic of China. This insurance must at least cover personal injury, repatriation expenses, medical expenses and evacuation expenses appropriate to the Course. You will be required to carry proof of insurance with you and the details of your policy must be provided to us prior to the Course Start Date. You should ensure that you are covered for the complete duration of the Course and that there are no exclusion clauses which limit cover for the type of activities included, or the altitudes attained, in the Course. If you fail to provide us with details of your policy prior to the Course Start Date, then we reserve the right to cancel your booking.

Compliance with Local Laws

Your booking is accepted on the strict understanding that you comply with local laws, customs, foreign exchange, drug and all other laws, rules and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as all hygiene, safety and security rules. If you commit any illegal act when on the Course or if in ours reasonable opinion your behaviour is considered disruptive, threatening, or abusive or is causing or likely to cause danger, distress to others, we may terminate your place on the Course at any time without any liability on our part. Whilst we may from time to time provide information and guidance on the Site about local laws and customs’ requirements, this information is advisory only and is provided as a courtesy to you. We accept no liability for errors or omissions as to the information provided by us or third parties and recommend you check and familiarise yourself with local laws and customs’ requirements prior to the Course Start Date.

Special Requests

You are required to notify us of any special requests (such as allergies or dietary requirements) on the Application Form. We will let you know if there is an extra charge for the request. We will do our best to accommodate your request but we cannot guarantee that this will be possible in every case and we will accept no liability if this request cannot be met. It is essential that any allergies are clearly specified on the Application Form.

Flights & Visa

You accept that it is your responsibility to book the appropriate flights and arrive in China in time for the Course Start Date.  It is also your responsibility to ensure you have all the necessary documentation with you and obtain a Chinese visa in sufficient time before the Course Start Date. In the event that you cannot obtain a valid Chinese visa we cannot allow you to participate in the Course and we will not be held responsible.

In the event that your visa application is rejected by the Chinese Authorities, subject to receipt by us of satisfactory evidence that the visa was applied for in sufficient time for the Course Start Date and that this was rejected by the Chinese Authorities for reasons beyond your control, you will be entitled to a full refund of the Course Fee that you have paid to us minus the Deposit. Whilst we are able to provide basic advice regarding visa requirements, you should check with the Chinese Embassy, Consulate or British Foreign Office for the exact requirements for your Course and date of travel.


You must ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover all your expenses for the duration of the Course such as food, accommodation, travel and activities except for where we expressly state that this will be provided.


If you would like to make a complaint about any aspect of the Course you should first inform the teacher or course organiser who is leading the Course at the earliest opportunity. If the teacher is unable to resolve the matter, you should inform us as soon as possible by writing to us at enquiries@bridgingthegapchina.co.uk. Complaints should be indicated as soon as they arise whilst on the Course and written complaints should be received by us no later than 30 days after the end of the Course.

Acceptance of Risk

Medical Information

You should notify us on the Application Form of any pre-existing medical conditions, pregnancy, disability or any other mental or physical condition which may affect your ability to participate on the Course.  We do not provide any medical services and you acknowledge that some parts of the Course may be unsuitable for you or require a reasonable level of fitness. If in doubt of your ability to participate in any part of the Course, you should seek advice from a medical practitioner prior to submitting your Application Form. You must inform us if there is any change to any medical condition as soon as possible and in any event prior to the Course Start Date. We reserve the right to deny you the opportunity to participate in any part of the Course on reasonable medical grounds.

You are responsible for obtaining all relevant medication and vaccinations as may be required for the Course and provide such evidence of vaccinations that may be requested on entry to the People’s Republic of China by customs or the Chinese Authorities.


You acknowledge that the Course may involve a significant amount of personal risk. You assume full responsibility for your personal safety and well-being and release us from any claim arising from any damage, injury suffered or death resulting from participation of any part of the Course (save for in the event of injury or death as a result of our negligence).

We are not responsible for any liability in respect of any loss suffered, damage to property, consequential and financial loss caused as a result of your participation on the Course or any act or omission of any of our staff, agents, officers, representatives or third parties.

For the avoidance of doubt nothing in these terms and conditions intends to exclude or limit any liability which cannot be excluded or limited by law.

Force Majeure

We will not be liable to you for any refund of the Course Fee or for any loss or damage suffered as a result of the curtailment, suspension, alteration or cancellation of the Course occurring by reason of a Force Majeure Event.

Governing Law

These terms and conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) is governed by and will be construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales.

We both irrevocably submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with these terms and conditions, their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims).
